Xp in Bhaflau Thickets… again

Monday, November 26, 2007.

Keceltes (NIN)
Rane (BLM)
Rya (WHM)
Toefer (RDM)

We picked up a War and another DD. I’m not sure why I didn’t write down their names, except that I don’t really care. This time we camped at the same location, except instead of being by the safety of the zone, we stood in the middle of the path to the cave.

We had to wait for a bit for Rane to join us. She didn’t have the staging point at the time and went out to get it with Rya’s help.

It turns out, it wasn’t quite as dangerous as I thought and it really made a difference. We pretty much pulled non-stop from both ends of the path. I had fun trying to refresh, debuff, and juggle all sorts of things. We earned a total of 10-12k with Keceltes lvling to 75 (this may be the last time Keceltes lvls his NIN… who knows?). The secret is to silence everything. Pretty much every mob there can cast a spell. And you can never cast enough dispels.

I talked to Keceltes afterwards and he said it was a little boring. Maybe he’s done with xping or “Meriting“. Sometimes I wonder…

Assault Time

Monday, November 26, 2007.

Chipya (DRG)
Keceltes (NIN or PLD)
Kutan (BLM)
Rane (BLM)
Rya (WHM)
Toefer (RDM)

I wasn’t really paying attention at all. I guess we were helping Rane and Kutan with some of the beginning Assault missions to earn their ranks for harder missions.

The first assault we did was Leujaoam Cleansing in Azouph Isle Staging Point. That went fairly smoothly. This was the first time I played as RDM since I came back and it was a bit tough to get used to. I noticed that I had some difficulty Refreshing 4 players at a time and sometimes Chipya too. Keceltes more or less remembered the whole path we were suppose to take and killing worms was fairly easy.

The second assault mission we did was Excavation Duty in Halvung Staging Point. This one went pretty well too, but I think it could be better. Rane did the solo work at the northern wall while the rest of us killed Qirin and the other walls. We finished with less than 5 minutes to go.

The third assault mission was aborted because Rane and Kutan didn’t have access to the staging point. It was unfortunate. Oh well. Next time I’m sure I’ll remember to get an I.D. Tag ready so I can do four assault runs instead of three.

Chipya (DRG)
Keceltes (NIN)
Toefer (BLM)

Ah… xping again. Oh how I miss thee. It’s been so long. I’m not even sure if I played my BLM properly. Me thinks not.

Anyway, we snagged a RDM, DRK, and another DD and off we went to Bhaflau Thickets. Things went fairly smoothly. We didn’t have a healer so of course Chipya is the first to die (Woot!). We steadly pulled Mamool Jas and Sea Puks. It was a bit slow. I don’t think I even got the hang of things.

Chipya had changed a lot. He was now decked out in Limbus gear and was easily out damaging everyone in the party. I was partly nuking and partly paying attention. I think I casted maybe one nuke per mob since Keceltes can’t hold aggro at all. I’m not even sure why he was in the party to begin with. The RDM was the star though, since he was healing, refreshing, and debuffing all over the place with little to no assistance from me. Less work for me (Score!).

At the end of the party, Keceltes died. I took a screenshot and was doing my victory dance when the mob turned on me. I started to make a run for it (since we were right by the zone), but alas, I was too late. Firaga III hit me and I died. It was a sad way to go. But it was really my fault. I messed around too much with Tractor and Raise while the mob was slept. Oh well, hopefully we can all learn a lesson from this. Victory dance after mob leaves.

I’m Back!
